This qualification is aimed at experienced workers in a technical, managerial or supervisory role (e.g. foreman) who are seeking to develop their competence and improve their skills and knowledge.
Anyone with a trade qualification working in the construction industry in a supervisory role can gain an NVQ in Occupational Work Supervision.
You should be working as a supervisor or assistant site manager in any construction trade occupation such as site carpentry, bricklaying or roofing.
This is a work-based qualification which assesses knowledge and competency in a real workplace environment. You are expected to demonstrate that you are competent against a detailed set of assessment criteria. You will be assigned to a fully qualified assessor who is an industry expert and their job is to provide support to help you meet the requirements of the NVQ session. The qualification will assess you in the following areas:
- Health and safety
- Leadership and management
- Communication and customer care
- Environment and sustainability
- Planning, programming and logistics
- Resource management (cost, cash and risk)
To gain the confidence to carry out your supervisory responsibilities effectively. You will be able to confidently plan work activities, allocate resources, organise and co-ordinate building projects, understand and implement health and safety measures, maintain good communication and much more.
The qualification is delivered via On-Site Assessment & Training (OSAT). OSAT allows you to get the essential qualifications you need with no downtime because it’s all carried out on-site. OSAT is also your route to securing your CSCS Card.
Having the opportunity to apply for a supervisory CSCS gold card.
On successful completing of the course, you could progress into occupational areas such as team leading and management.
