This apprenticeship is designed for people who want to train on the job and gain a nationally recognised qualification in Business Administration.
If you are efficient and enjoy organising people and resources, this is a great apprenticeship for you to start your career. This apprenticeship supports a variety of administration job roles in any industry e.g. executive assistants, secretaries, administration assistants, data entry clerks and office juniors.
This course consists of six mandatory units and a range of optional units to suit your job role, to give a minimum of 45 credits in total. Delivery will consist of class-based and work based learning. The mandatory units are:
- Communicate in a business environment
- Principles of providing administrative services
- Principles of business document production and information management
- Understand employer organisations
- Manage personal performance and development
- Develop working relationships with colleagues
You then select the optional units to suit your specific job role, which may include:
- Use a telephone and voicemail system
- Manage diary systems
- Store and retrieve information / Archive information
- Use and maintain office equipment
- Maintain and issue stationery stock items
- Prepare documents/ Prepare text from notes using touch typing
- Support the organisation of an event / meeting / travel and accommodation
As part of the apprenticeship framework you are required to complete Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT at Level 1 unless exemptions are provided.

Our Business Administration Apprenticeship Level 3 or further Level 3 study. Completing both the Level 2 and Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeships will help you progress in your career through senior administration to management. In the future, you may be interested in continuing your studies through Cornwall College Business and enrol in the customer service, team leading, people management or leader management apprenticeships. Thereafter, you may wish to study further and complete an FdA Business or FdA E-business Management, followed by a BA (Hons) Business Enterprise through Cornwall College.
If you want to work in accounting, legal or medical administration, management, marketing, office management or personnel, our courses will be a great stepping stone to get you there.
