A safety, health and environment technician will work with the management and delivery team of an organisation to advise on the statutory health, safety and environmental requirements as they affect the company’s operations. As a SHE technician you will assist to develop, review and check on the implementation of safe systems of work, deliver training (e.g. toolbox talks and inductions), investigate incidents, analyse data and present findings to the management team.

During this apprenticeship, you will learn the specialist skills needed to carry out this role.

Ideal if:

You are currently employed in a relevant position and would like to gain a Level 3 qualification in this specialist subject.

You’ll need:

Whilst any entry requirements will be a matter for individual employers, typically an apprentice might be expected to have achieved or be working towards 5 GCSE’s A*- C including English and maths as well as having knowledge to level 1 equivalent for commonly used office computer applications.

You’ll learn:

The course will cover health and safety management systems, risk assessments, accident investigations and planning for SHE investigations as well as other relevant subjects.

The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) will recognise the SHE Apprenticeship enabling those who have completed the apprenticeship to join IOSH at TechIOSH level.

There will be an opportunity for those who wish to progress to complete the C & G level 5 NVQ if still in employment.
