The Level 2 Diploma in Hospitality Services is designed for Learners who wish to pursue a career in the hospitality sector, for example; in hotels, restaurants, holiday parks, catering firms, pubs and bars.

It is for individuals working in a multi-tasking job role which covers everything from receiving, greeting and booking in customers, providing housekeeping services, to food and drink preparation and service.

This qualification enables learners to develop knowledge, understanding and skills essential for working in both a food and non-food environment, working with others and improving their own performance.

Ideal if:

You have just finished your first year in the industry achieving the level 1 certificate in “An Introduction to Cookery” or are a school leaver and wish to pursue a career in the hospitality industry. This course offers the flexibility of working in the kitchen or front of house, with the potential to specialise at a later stage. You must be self-motivated with the ability to work alone as well as working within a team.

You’ll need:

You will need to have a minimum of two GCSEs at grades D - E (2 - 3) in English and mathematics or an equivalent qualification. Or have achieved the Level 1 Certificate in An Introduction to Cookery.

We recognize that applicants without these qualifications can often offer a high level of competence as well as life experience and we will therefore consider all applications on their merits alongside their qualifications. You will continue to develop your skills of Maths, English & Employability as a part of your study programme.

You’ll learn:

This qualification provides a real opportunity for you to gain work specific skills and knowledge in the Hospitality Sector. It covers the knowledge and skills you will need to enter work in restaurants, bars and all other areas of hospitality.

Depending on which path of the hospitality diploma you choose you could learn many of these techniques:

  • prepare and provide counter takeaway service
  • prepare and clear for table service
  • provide buffet of carvery service
  • prepare and serve hot drinks
  • prepare and finish salad and fruit dishes
  • prepare hot and cold sandwiches
  • prepare and present cold food presentations
  • prepare fish, vegetable, rice & pulse, and pasta dishes

As well as learning about:

  • giving customers a positive impression
  • how to work safely and hygienically

You will also receive personal tutorials which will provide opportunities to set your personal targets and to carryout self‐evaluation and reflection.
