This 1 year top up programme builds on your knowledge of working with children and young people across the workforce and will further develop your understanding of the broad range of provision available in the UK and elsewhere. You will examine a range of services, systems, working practices and policies relating to children, schools and families and will cover subject areas such as sociology, psychology, philosophy and education.
The programme will prepare you for working with children and young people by integrating theory and practice in preparation for a rewarding career. The assessment opportunities embedded within the modules provide the ability for you to shape your own programme of study to meet your individual interests.
The programme is offered either on a full-time basis over one year, or part-time over two years. This provides the choice for you to focus full-time on your studies or to continue to work and study by taking advantage of the flexibility of part-time provision. Leading The Internal Quality Assurance Of Assessment Processes And Practice City & Guilds Certificate

This course is suitable for you if you are a practitioner who Leads the Internal Quality Assurance Process, within an Assessment Centre/Organisation; and have a responsibility for managing the quality of the assessment process, practice and the performance of Assessors. They may also develop systems and lead on visits from outside agencies such as Awarding Organisations.
A one day induction to the course will cover the background knowledge and understanding aspects of the Award and the role as the Lead Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) you will be required to carry out.
Within the Assessment Centre, you will Lead the QA process and allocate work, within your own area of responsibility. As an IQA you will also be required to work closely with at least two assessors, each with a minimum of two candidates of their own, through components of a qualification. In your role as Lead IQA, you will also work with and co-ordinate with others from External Agencies i.e. Awarding Organisations, as well as meeting with your Course Tutor/Assessor regularly and build a portfolio of evidence.

The Geography Access to Higher Education Diploma is a suitable entrance qualification for the many Earth Science based degrees in Cornwall and throughout the country. It is also a recognised qualification that can help you gain entry into the workplace.
On the access course you will have the opportunity to get support with your academic studies; you will be able to receive support from a range of people and facilities. This includes support from the Learning Resource Centre as well as support for tutors to help facilitate your learning. Support will also be available during some of the College holidays.
We also support you through the university application process with tutorials. These are designed to offer guidance and support throughout the learning process.
Some applicants may be eligible for financial support on this course to assist with childcare, transport etc. The Learner Support Fund is under review and is determined by individual circumstances.
If you are under 24 years of age, you may be eligible for fee remission. Information will be given within the workshops, however if your require more information contact the College your applying for and speak to one of the administration tutors for further details.
