This short course is for learners to understand the roles and responsibilities of an individual
who wishes to offer a professional Pet Sitting service with a focus on animal welfare.
It is important
that the learner understands current legislation and codes of practice related to looking after a
client’s animals and property and practical implications
They will also be required to identify
potential problems/emergencies relating to pet sitting and how to deal with them. This focuses on
caring for animals in the owner’s property, not home boarding.

This course will highlight what is involved in purchasing, caring for and maintaining your animal during its life.
Many pet owners purchase their pets without fully understanding what is involved in caring for their pet throughout its life.
This course will provide the necessary information to ensure that as a new pet owner you are fully aware of the costs and needs of your pet to ensure that they are looked after well and to promote positive welfare.
Animals that will be discussed are rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, mice, rats.
