Pathway 2 Employment To Become Work Ready – Stage 1

Entry Level • Full-time • Foundation Learning department


This department focuses on building your confidence in learning, employability and independent living with all programmes tailored to each individual learner, with effective teaching that involves providing each student with different avenues to learning, often in the same classroom. We have dedicated foundation learning areas and experienced tutors who will help you reach your full potential. We offer courses for a wide range of learners; from those needing some extra support, those with learning difficulties, or those who simply want to spend some time developing core skills. Our courses are designed to focus on developing skills that can be used in any vocational area and enable you to try out numerous career paths before committing to a specific vocational course. If you are not quite ready to enter the world of work, but would like to develop your employability skills this course is ideal. You will learn core employability skills through activities that develop your communication and teamwork. You will also improve your English and maths. You should expect to carry out one day supported community action, or one day supported college work placement per week. On completion of your course you could go on to a traineeship, voluntary or supported paid employment or a supported internship. This stage 1 course runs for 3 days per week and includes 2 days per week in college studying a City & Guilds qualification in Employability Skills, ICT, English and maths and 1 day per week engaging in a supported community action project or in a college-based work placement.

Preparing To Transition From College: Moving On will enhance your independent living skills whilst also helping to improve your employability skills. You will love how much your self-confidence and social skills improve. As well as focusing on academic skills and work experience, this course is about helping to promote essential life skills such as independence, perseverance and resilience. It includes a focus on you taking personal responsibility for yourself and for your learning. Communication skills are embedded into all aspects of the course as are problem solving skills. Pathway 2 Employment Stage 2 (Supported Internship)

We have dedicated foundation learning areas and experienced tutors who will help you reach your full potential. We offer courses for a wide range of learners; from those needing some extra support, those with learning difficulties, or those who simply want to spend some time developing core skills. Our courses are designed to focus on developing skills that can be used in any vocational area and enable you to try out numerous career paths before committing to a specific vocational course. Following on from the Pathway 2 Employment Stage 1 course, if you have a genuine desire to get a job and you can demonstrate an excellent record of behaviour and attendance, plus you have Entry Level 2 English and maths, then this course is ideal for you. You will also need to have a current Education, Health and Care Plan and be 16 to 24 years of age. This course is designed to help you move forwards and develop your confidence both at work and at college. You should expect to carry out a two day per week work placement with an employer, supported by a skills job coach. You will also learn the skills you need to be successful in employment including English, maths and ICT.

Personal Progress Towards Independence

This department focuses on building your confidence in learning, employability and independent living with all programmes tailored to each individual learner, with effective teaching that involves providing each student with different avenues to learning, often in the same classroom. We have dedicated foundation learning areas and experienced tutors who will help you reach your full potential. This one to three year course is designed to prepare you for independent living, build your teamwork skills and improve your maths and English. You will take part in activities that are engaging and positively assess your development throughout the duration of the course. You will love how much your self-confidence and social skills improve. This course runs for 4 days per week and you may study between 1 to 3 years depending on individual needs and is aimed at 16 – 24 year olds with additional needs.
