Lunging and long-reining

Equine Clipping and Trimming

This course will show students how to clip and trim their horses safely or for those who wish to develop their skills further. Clipping is used for a number of reasons and there are a variety of clips to suit. In the winter horses in work are often clipped to reduce the issues associated with sweaty thick coats and in the summer months, some show horses may be clipped for aesthetic purposes. Clipping well takes practice and it is important to know the basics before you try to clip your horse.

Equine First Aid

This course is suitable for horse owners wishing to learn about applying first aid to their horse. Students will learn how to assess basic health, and recognise when the horse is in poor-health: covering signs and symptoms, TPR (temperature, pulse and respiration), wounds, common ailments, lumps and bumps, and what to have in your vet kit. If you are unsure how to recognise the signs of illness or what to do while awaiting a vet, then this course is suitable for you.
Please ensure that you come wearing suitable clothing and yard footwear. Please also bring a riding hat and gloves for handling horses.
This course is not suitable for complete novices- you must have some experience of handling horses to participate.
