Are you ready to take your game to the next level? Be careful how you respond because we’ll hold you to it. Training and learning to compete as a tournament golf professional is no mean feat. It requires drive, determination, application and most of all effort and commitment from you. Here at Tournament Golf College (TGC) we will prepare you mentally, physically, tactically, technically, personally and academically for the challenges that lie ahead.

At TGC our philosophy is to enjoy the journey, to not just work hard, but work smart and become a disciplined, solution-based thinker: a key attribute for all top players. Learn how we break the game of golf down into performance segments, and work on solutions in many areas to make many small improvements. Learn more about what affects performance so you can take that all important responsibility for your own game. With your efforts, discipline and open mind we are a very powerful tool to help you achieve and maximise your potential.

The programme prides itself on its relationships with industry and as such the opportunities for academic study and game play are extensive. The fantastic facilities provide a golfing environment second to none. For instance, over the past two years students have been enrolled onto the Algarve Professional Golf Tour and have competed with professionals. A number of our students have undertaken work placements at the prestigious Saadiyat Golf Resort, Dubai.

Additional costs/fee information

Additional programme costs of £9500.00 to cover the costs of all accommodation, unlimited golf, use of all resort facilities, weekly internal competitive golf events, coaching and performance management, liaison with your existing coach when required, opportunity to play in the Portugal Pro Golf Tour events, airport transfers in Portugal. Initial deposit of £500.00 (deducted from your final year programme costs). Accommodation deposit £250.00.   Entry Requirements

80 UCAS points from AS and A-Levels (at least 32 points must be at A2-level) or relevant level 3 qualification, ie BTEC National Diploma / BTEC Extended Diploma - PPP Grades required (specific unit grades may be requested). Access to HE Diplomas in a relevant subject - 45 credits at level 3 (specific unit grades may be requested). Plus GCSEs at grade C/grade 4 or above in English Language and Mathematics: alternatives at Level 2 may be considered. Mature applicants with relevant experience but without the stated qualifications will be considered individually and are encouraged to apply. A golf handicap of 5 or better on entry is required.

This is an exciting new diploma that is currently only being offered at two colleges in England (including Duchy College, Stoke Climsland). It offers a range of subject areas including Physiology, Psychology, Bio-mechanics, Exercise and Performance etc. This course has been developed with the assistance of Sussex University and The University of St. Mark and St. John (Marjon) and offers a wide range of opportunities for people wanting to progress on to university degrees in Sports, Psychology, Coaching, Fitness etc. This is an academic diploma so most of the study will be classroom based however opportunities will be made available to get involved in practical work using our extensive facilities and those at our partner university. Access courses are designed as a stepping stone to enable motivated, enthusiastic people to progress on to Higher Education. There is a very high level of academic and personal support throughout the course, which can help if you need to combine study with part-time employment and family commitments. Please Note: This course is only available to applicants who are 19+ This course would suit people needing to progress on to higher educations in the following areas; Sports Coaching, Sports Psychology, Sports Physiotherapy, Sports Science, Sport Performance, Physiology, etc. Some study to take place with our Higher Education partners. Most people would need to study at least 20 hours per week on top of the contact time.

The BSc (Hons) Tournament Golf is a three year programme of study with winter training in Portugal during the second semester of each year. The taught programme runs from September until the end of March, finishing in time for the start of the golf season. You can expect to work at weekends, some evenings and have independent study during the playing season. The first semester is in the UK at St Mellion International Resort and the second in Portugal at Oceanico Golf. Diploma in Sport (Sports Coaching)

Level 2 • Full-time • Duchy College Stoke Climsland


If you can’t get enough of sport and/or fitness and have your sights set on becoming a sports coach, PE teacher or fitness instructor, then this is the course for you. Then this will be on your first step in to a career in the sport, health and fitness industry! The first thing you’ll notice about this course is that it’s about both practical and theoretical learning – you’ll be spending a lot of time in our on-campus sports hall, a fully equipped gym and 3G pitch. You’ll be looking at everything: strength & conditioning techniques, skills and the beginnings of tactical awareness along with teamwork and leadership. In addition, you will be carrying out your very own personal fitness plan as you progress through the course. In essence, you’ll be developing all of the essential skills you need to start your journey towards a career in sport, health and fitness. Cornwall College has a selection of college sports teams, which regularly train and compete at a participatory and competitive level, student, are encouraged to get involved with these to supplement your studies. Whatever your sport may be there is an opportunity to work with our experienced team to develop your skills and fitness to help you reach the next level. In addition Duchy College Stoke has an amazing partnership in place with Plymouth Argyle FC. Students on our sports programmes can opt in to study a football specific programme with high quality training delivered by Argyle staff twice a week and fixtures taking place most Wednesday afternoons, all of which go towards the evidence needed to complete your course, playing football actually is your college course. We have excellent links with local employers and sports clubs, providing amazing work experience and volunteering opportunities. Many of our students have gone on to employment further afield or abroad. As a Level 2 course, this diploma is all about introducing you to everything from the theory behind how the body works, to the practical steps needed to plan and coach your very own sport/fitness session. Our highly-skilled and motivated staff have a wealth of knowledge and experience in sport, health and fitness. They are there to give you the very best start to your career.
