Growing vegetables in a Potager garden

Close up shot of a green cabbage Always wanted to grow vegetables, but don’t want to dig over your whole garden or want to make an attractive and productive garden? Why not have a go at a potager garden?

This course looks at the planning and essential requirements for a Potager and how to grow 6 different vegetables. The day will include growing from seed, planting on, preparing an outdoor seed bed, planting out seedlings/modules and simple plant protection. This will be completed outdoors, weather permitting or undercover in one of our glass houses.

What you will learn

• Basics of potager design.
• Creating a raised bed.
• Soil preparation for sowing seeds and planting out seedlings
• Sowing vegetable seeds, pricing out and planting out.
• Basics for organic pest control
• Supporting and protecting your crops for optimum growth.

This is the perfect precursor to our Level 1 Award in horticulture skills or one of our Level 2 RHS courses.
