We’ve got commercial gyms, sports pitches and fantastic training partnerships including Plymouth Argyle Football Club.

  What You Will Learn

A wide range of topics giving you knowledge and an understanding of the sport and active leisure sector, including: fitness for sport and exercise, practical sports and performance, leading sports activities and training for personal fitness.

You will also be given opportunities to gain additional qualifications as you progress through your course and take part in sports trips within the UK.

  Entry Requirements

Four GCSEs at grade 3, including English and mathematics, a basic level of competence in sports and a strong desire to work in the sports sector.

  Work Experience

As part of your course you will be required to carry out Work Experience and/or an Industry Placement

BSc (Hons) Tournament Golf

Are you ready to take your game to the next level? Be careful how you respond because we’ll hold you to it. Training and learning to compete as a tournament golf professional is no mean feat. It requires drive, determination, application and most of all effort and commitment from you. Here at Tournament Golf College (TGC) we will prepare you mentally, physically, tactically, technically, personally and academically for the challenges that lie ahead. At TGC our philosophy is to enjoy the journey, to not just work hard, but work smart and become a disciplined, solution-based thinker: a key attribute for all top players. Learn how we break the game of golf down into performance segments, and work on solutions in many areas to make many small improvements. Learn more about what affects performance so you can take that all important responsibility for your own game. With your efforts, discipline and open mind we are a very powerful tool to help you achieve and maximise your potential. The BSc (Hons) Tournament Golf is a three year programme of study with winter training in Portugal during the second semester of each year. The taught programme runs from September until the end of March, finishing in time for the start of the golf season. You can expect to work at weekends, some evenings and have independent study during the playing season. The first semester is in the UK at St Mellion International Resort and the second in Portugal at Oceanico Golf. The programme prides itself on its relationships with industry and as such the opportunities for academic study and game play are extensive. The fantastic facilities provide a golfing environment second to none. For instance, over the past two years students have been enrolled onto the Algarve Professional Golf Tour and have competed with professionals. A number of our students have undertaken work placements at the prestigious Saadiyat Golf Resort, Dubai. Additional costs/fee information Additional programme costs of £9500.00 to cover the costs of all accommodation, unlimited golf, use of all resort facilities, weekly internal competitive golf events, coaching and performance management, liaison with your existing coach when required, opportunity to play in the Portugal Pro Golf Tour events, airport transfers in Portugal. Initial deposit of £500.00 (deducted from your final year programme costs). Accommodation deposit £250.00. Sports Science CAVA Access To Higher Education Diploma

Level 3 • Full-time • Sports & Fitness department


This is an exciting new diploma that is currently only being offered at two colleges in England (including Duchy College, Stoke Climsland). It offers a range of subject areas including Physiology, Psychology, Bio-mechanics, Exercise and Performance etc. This course has been developed with the assistance of Sussex University and The University of St. Mark and St. John (Marjon) and offers a wide range of opportunities for people wanting to progress on to university degrees in Sports, Psychology, Coaching, Fitness etc. This is an academic diploma so most of the study will be classroom based however opportunities will be made available to get involved in practical work using our extensive facilities and those at our partner university. Access courses are designed as a stepping stone to enable motivated, enthusiastic people to progress on to Higher Education. There is a very high level of academic and personal support throughout the course, which can help if you need to combine study with part-time employment and family commitments. Please Note: This course is only available to applicants who are 19+ This course would suit people needing to progress on to higher educations in the following areas; Sports Coaching, Sports Psychology, Sports Physiotherapy, Sports Science, Sport Performance, Physiology, etc. Some study to take place with our Higher Education partners. Most people would need to study at least 20 hours per week on top of the contact time.
