You want a career in areas of environment and conservation management.
Five GCSEs at grade C or 5, including English, maths and science.
The fundamental principles of a range of topics such as ecological surveys, related conservation practices, coastal management, gamekeeping, livestock conservation, farm habitats, forestry estate maintenance, green woodwork, forest recreation and environmental interpretation.
To complete a work placement within the rural sector and the opportunity to work with voluntary organisations in the UK and Europe. Assessment includes both coursework and exams.
The field trips and opportunities to study as a group in other parts of the world including Germany, Cyprus, Finland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Iceland.
University study such as our FdSc Estate & Farm Enterprise Management or our FdSc Conservation & Countryside Management. Alternatively you can seek employment or an apprenticeship.
Nick Taylor Course Manager - Conservation & Countryside
Nick has spent many years working in the conservation sector, in many roles: as a keeper at London Zoo, Taronga Zoo Sydney, the Monkey Sanctuary near Looe and as a warden at the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. He's travelled the world to experience all manner of wildlife in their natural habitats, and has been to every continent except South America and Antarctica. For the last 15 years Nick has been teaching at Duchy College and is their resident expert in wildlife identification.
