This Level 3 Zoo Animal Management Diploma is perfect if you would like a career caring for animals in a zoo-based setting. We work in partnership with Dartmoor Zoological Park to ensure you gain the practical, real-life experience that employers look for.
There are one- and two-year options available with this pathway and we will work with you to decide which is best for you.

You have a keen interest in a variety of animal species and the aspiration to find future employment in a zoo-based setting.
Five GCSEs at grade 4 including English, maths and science.
During this course you will study a wide range of subjects including animal nutrition, animal handling and safe working, health and welfare, husbandry of exotic species, animal biology, anatomy and physiology, behaviour, breeding, genetics and wildlife ecology.
Animal management departments on site at Duchy College Stoke Climsland and Bicton College will provide you with practical experience, you will also undertake one day a week work experience at Dartmoor Zoological Park, where you will work with the keepers and the education team.
Getting hands-on experience at Dartmoor Zoological Park or our animal management centres on campus at Bicton and Duchy. You'll also have the opportunity to take part in field trips in the UK, Europe or our life-changing trip to Africa.
Employment in the zoology industry or university study such as our FdSc Zoological Conservation, FdSc Animal Behaviour & Psychology, FdSc Animal Husbandry & Welfare or BSc (Hons) Applied Zoology & Conservation.

Jo Challacombe Technician - Animal Management
Jo manages the care of a wide range of animals at Duchy College's Stoke Climsland animal care unit and supports students on further and higher education programmes, to give them the best hands-on learning experience. Jo originally trained in equitation science before broadening her experience into understanding the needs and behaviours of a range of animals from rats and snakes to centipedes and rabbits!
