The Level 1 Award in Practical Horticulture focuses on developing the essential basic horticultural skills. These not only offer opportunities for employment, but provide the foundation for further skills development at levels 2 and 3. By carefully focusing on key essential skills, it has been possible to develop a practical qualification that can be studied on a part-time basis.

You have limited horticulture knowledge and would like to learn practical skills whilst working towards a level 1 qualification.
There are no prerequisites for entry to this quailifcation.
There are six units including; Preparing soil for sowing and planting, soil testing, assist with the propagation of plants from seed, assist with the vegetative propagation of plants, assist with planting and establishing plants and identification of a range of common garden plants, weeds, pests and diseases.
Your assignments and projects to be assessed throughout the course and to get your hands dirty!
Learning about all aspects of horticulture including polytunnels, raised beds and outdoors.
