Plant operations is the broad term referring to the operation and driving of heavy plant equipment such as, excavators, dumpers, rollers and telescopic handlers to name a few. Groundworks is the specific job role of preparing the ground using some of these machines within a construction, civil engineering, roads, railways or landscaping project.
In order to work on a construction site you will need to gain your Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) certification. On top of that you will gain tickets to prove you are skilled and experienced in operating and maintaining a wide range of specialist large plant machinery. To work in the industry you will need to achieve the Level 2 qualification.
This one-year introductory qualification is ideal for those wanting to progress onto the Level 2 course. You’ll learn how to operate and drive a wide range of plant machinery through practical instruction sessions with the specialist machinery and equipment we have on our campuses.
