We’ve all been on a day out at the zoo and seen the vast number of animals on display, but zoos are no longer simply collections of animals for people to visit, they play a vital role in carrying out conservation work. Captive breeding programmes, protecting endangered species, and inspiring the next generation to care and protect these animals, are all essential tasks zoos carry out on a day to day basis and you could play a vital role in this important work.

Jo Challacombe Technician - Animal Management
Jo manages the care of a wide range of animals at Duchy College's Stoke Climsland animal care unit and supports students on further and higher education programmes, to give them the best hands-on learning experience. Jo originally trained in equitation science before broadening her experience into understanding the needs and behaviours of a range of animals from rats and snakes to centipedes and rabbits!
