This short course is suitable for individuals who wish to either, gain further knowledge of developing their own skill base, or to be able to carry out gel coat and structural repairs. You will be learn how carry out repairs on a number of products including surfboards, kayaks and small fibreglass craft.  You will also be taught health and safety practice.

Jonny Mills Boatbuilding Course Manager

Jonny has been working in the marine sector for over 30 years, repairing and sailing aboard wooden square rigged vessels, which is his lifelong passion. Jonny’s expertise and experience extends to building and maintaining historic replicas for museums, fibreglass production yacht building, repairs and restoration of wooden boats. Jonny has been in charge of a team of shipwrights, building replica boats for film and TV productions, as well as the marine coordination for the Warner Bros. film ‘Clash of the Titans’. Jonny was also the head shipwright on the construction of ‘The Hereford Bull’, a replica trow built for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.     "Our students work on projects that will give them the vital industry experience, and contacts, that will enable them to establish careers in the boatbuilding sector”
