This course is aimed at beginners who will learn the basic use of a digital camera with simple techniques to improve portraits, landscapes, travel photography, special occasions, and competition entries.
You will learn what the controls on your camera are for, and how settings can be used to give effects that can enhance your images. This will include an understanding of exposure and what settings combine to give the right results; what types of image file and colour settings are the best for your camera; basic control of natural, artificial and flash lighting and basic use of photo software; tips for improving the composition of landscapes, portraits, nature and close-up (macro) images.
Students are encouraged each week to try out what they have leant and the photographs are looked at by the group the following week.
Please bring your camera to the class and, if you already have one, a tripod may be useful.
