Junior Tractor Maintenance

No Qualification • Part-time • Land-based Engineering & Technology


This course is suitable for 13-16 year olds who want to know a little more about maintaining tractors. This course will cover: General health and safety practice when working in a workshop and on machines. Pre- use inspection including but not comprehensive, checking tyres, checking fluid levels, air filters and lights. Changing fuel filters and how to bleed a fuel system. Carrying out a full 150 hour service on a tractor following manufacturer’s instructions. Completion of relevant records to meet health and safety requirements. On completion you will be awarded with a Duchy College attendance certificate.

Chainsaw Maintenance And Cross Cutting

This course is the introduction to the suite of NPTC Certificate of Competence chainsaw qualifications. The course runs every month for a duration of 3 days. Foundation Learning Vocational Pathway: Vocational Studies

The FL Vocational Pathway develops and prepares you for further studies or employment, through a blend of practical and classroom-based learning. In this Pathway you will experience a wide range of vocational areas providing you with invaluable information to assist with career choice pathways. You will have the opportunity to explore a range of vocational options: utilising cross-college departments to gain an insight in to different areas and develop your skills through internal employment based experiences. The invaluable opportunity for work placements can also form a part of your learning. This Pathway is offered at different campuses. The vocational options on offer are specific to the campus you choose to study at, where you will benefit from being taught be a range of highly-skilled professionals. Our vision is to support you to be INDEPENDENT, CONFIDENT AND RESILIENT so that you are well-prepared to engage with the wider community. The Level 1 Introductory in Vocational Studies course will give you a range of opportunities and experiences to inform your future steps, assist with your progression and find out what’s right for you.

BSc (Hons) Tournament Golf

Are you ready to take your game to the next level? Be careful how you respond because we’ll hold you to it. Training and learning to compete as a tournament golf professional is no mean feat. It requires drive, determination, application and most of all effort and commitment from you. Here at Tournament Golf College (TGC) we will prepare you mentally, physically, tactically, technically, personally and academically for the challenges that lie ahead. At TGC our philosophy is to enjoy the journey, to not just work hard, but work smart and become a disciplined, solution-based thinker: a key attribute for all top players. Learn how we break the game of golf down into performance segments, and work on solutions in many areas to make many small improvements. Learn more about what affects performance so you can take that all important responsibility for your own game. With your efforts, discipline and open mind we are a very powerful tool to help you achieve and maximise your potential. The BSc (Hons) Tournament Golf is a three year programme of study with winter training in Portugal during the second semester of each year. The taught programme runs from September until the end of March, finishing in time for the start of the golf season. You can expect to work at weekends, some evenings and have independent study during the playing season. The first semester is in the UK at St Mellion International Resort and the second in Portugal at Oceanico Golf. The programme prides itself on its relationships with industry and as such the opportunities for academic study and game play are extensive. The fantastic facilities provide a golfing environment second to none. For instance, over the past two years students have been enrolled onto the Algarve Professional Golf Tour and have competed with professionals. A number of our students have undertaken work placements at the prestigious Saadiyat Golf Resort, Dubai. Additional costs/fee information Additional programme costs of £9500.00 to cover the costs of all accommodation, unlimited golf, use of all resort facilities, weekly internal competitive golf events, coaching and performance management, liaison with your existing coach when required, opportunity to play in the Portugal Pro Golf Tour events, airport transfers in Portugal. Initial deposit of £500.00 (deducted from your final year programme costs). Accommodation deposit £250.00. We understand that many of you may need accommodation, which is why we can provide you with options both on and off campus.

At Duchy College Stoke Climsland we pride ourselves on the care we provide to our Students. Parents and guardians will be pleased to hear that the care of the students is also assessed by Government Standards and Ofsted. We can offer you various accommodation options both on and off campus. This ranges from full board with three cooked meals, seven days a week, to self-catering for older students.

Future Farm

The Daniel Building is the first part of the Future Farm project to be completed; a £10 million scheme including a new higher education hub and state-of-the-art dairy unit. The campus occupies a 660-acre estate with dairy, beef, sheep, arable and forage crops plus a range of dry and wet habitats typical of the area. Our teaching accommodation is recently built with well-equipped workshops and laboratories and we have an impressive portfolio of up-to-date farm machinery.

We are also home to the Rural Business School, giving you unique opportunities to be involved in project work and meet industry leaders. You will benefit from our close relationships with agencies across the UK (including EBLEX, the NFU and Defra) and our links with industry across Europe mean excellent opportunities to experience alternative farming systems.

Evolve Sport, Fitness & Outdoors

Students are able to take part in free and subsidised sporting and recreational activities. Our College Sportsmaker arranges a varied timetable of activities each term.

The facilities include, 4 court sports hall, football pitches, climbing tower, lake for watersports, orienteering course, and a fitness suite. The College also has a golf putting green and swing studio and employs a full time golf professional.
Sporting activities include; hockey, netball, football, kayaking, horse riding, climbing, running, fitness classes, archery, lacrosse, racket sports, dodgeball and more.

Equine & Animal Management

The Stoke Climsland Equestrian Centre is equipped with two indoor arenas, a large outdoor arena, a weighbridge, horse walker, wash down and solarium facilities as well as state-of–the-art equipment and technology, all of which are used extensively by students. Duchy College is also home to the Equitation Science Research and Training Centre which works closely with the International Society for Equitation Science.

The Animal Management Centre provides accommodation, enclosures and paddocks for a wide range of animals, including small animals, aquatics, reptiles, invertebrates, poultry, waterfowl and farm animals. Students are also able to learn in a dog grooming room, cat play room and fully equipped laboratory facilities for biological sciences.
