The successes and achievements of this year’s students at Cornwall College Saltash have been celebrated at an annual Student Excellence Awards Ceremony.

The special event saw students presented with a prize for the recognition of their hard work, watched by an audience of friends, family, lecturers and businesses.

Level 2 Bricklaying Apprentice, Aaron Pearce, who lives in Liskeard, said he was “delighted to win an award and it was lovely to have an event to celebrate everyone’s success.”

“I would 100% recommend Cornwall College Saltash to others, I have spent two years here, the course has been fantastic and the support from lecturers is second to none.”

The evening was opened by Head of College, Margaret Butfield, who spoke about the highlights of the College over the last 12 months and the exciting developments that have taken place including the opening of the new restaurant Dynnargh and additional Koko hair salon.

Margaret said it was fantastic to “once again be able to formally celebrate the successes of our outstanding learners and the brilliant support given by our dedicated staff.”

“Everyone who works at Cornwall College Saltash is instrumental in ensuring every learner has the very best opportunity to thrive, achieve and fulfil their dreams and ambitions,” she added.

The Cornwall College Group Director of Technology, Justin Olosunde, presented awards for each department winner.

Level 2 Professional Cookery student, Ryan Culleton, said it was an “amazing evening.”

“I am so proud to win a couple of awards, and I am so grateful for the opportunities I have had whilst studying here at Cornwall College Saltash,” he added.

Learning Advisor, Tekhe Dan, who organised the event, said “we are proud to offer our learners the opportunity to revel in their success after they have worked so hard throughout the year.”

“We would like to thank our sponsors; Goldwell, Eve Taylor, Major Series and Screwfix for all their kind donations to our winners.”
