Residents of St Austell and beyond are getting their chance to star in Beauty and the Best (price) while raising money for incredible local charities.

A fundraiser packed with discounted beauty treatments, games, refreshments and a raffle is being held at the Koko Salons at John Keay House, Cornwall College on Saturday 25th February from 10am-3pm.

Beauty Lecturer, Danielle Simmonds explained that as part of the Level 3 Beauty Course, students must organise and run a promotional activity.

“The group decided that they would do a fundraising event to raise money for charity and showcase some of the fabulous treatments that are available at the Koko Salons,” she added.

Treatments on the day will include manicures, pedicures, shellac treatments, Indian head massages and back massages, with prices for treatments starting at just £4.99.

Beauty student Michelle Grant said the group decided to support Little Harbour and Mount Edgecombe Hospice “because they’re both equally wonderful charities and do a remarkable job for families in our community”.

“We’ve had some fantastic raffle prizes donated, with the top prize being a £50 Voucher for Tregenna Castle,” she continued.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of the independent and local companies for this event, who have donated days out, vouchers and clothing to the raffle.”

Another beauty student, Mel De’Ville revealed that staff at Prezzo donated all of their tips from one of their evening shifts “which was a lovely gesture and has gone straight into the fundraising pot”.

Treatments are available for over 16s only, but there will be plenty of fundraising games, activities and refreshments to keep all family members amused.
