Cornwall College Camborne hosted their annual Summer Fun Day last Saturday welcoming thousands of people to their free entry event.
On what was one of the hottest days of the year, visitors from all over West Cornwall descended onto a fun filled activity packed campus.
Vicky Cox, Head of Cornwall College Camborne said: “Today has been a huge success with more visitors than ever attending. This year we have also had more activities, exhibits and stalls for people to enjoy and the atmosphere has been fantastic. This event is always looked forward to especially by the staff, as it allows them the opportunity to showcase what they do, promote the amazing facilities on-site and engage with our local communities.”
The event was officially opened by Lucy Start Breakfast Presenter with Pirate FM, followed by a busy schedule of activities and displays including, climbing walls, Nerf battles, Pony rides, Segway Polo, Bubble Football and much more.
Raoul Humphries, CEO, The Cornwall College Group added, “I am delighted that we are able to arrange and deliver this ever growing event for the local communities. This is a day to encourage people to step onto the campus, to have a fun day and discover what Cornwall College has to offer. There is so much going on today, happy faces everywhere, the atmosphere is great and I’d like to thank everyone who makes this day such a success.”
Despite the high temperature visitors were still enjoying the wide range of foodie outlets including a Mexican, Fish & Chips and Tapas catering van, with the bar being very busy serving cold beers and soft drinks.
Local parent Michelle Knight from Falmouth said: “I saw this event advertised and thought we’d go for an hour or so, we’ve actually been here all day and my son keeps saying to me this is the best day ever. So much is free, including ice-creams and I think it’s pretty obvious that the college truly wants to put on a great day out for families, we’re looking forward to next year.”
