Marine Engineers, Boatbuilders and Marine Scientist joined their fellow watersports students for a fun day of activities at Stithians Lake on their last day of term.

The Year 2 watersports students, who are now fully trained and certified instructors, led the session with support from ex-students Lydia and lark Bridges, who are now working for South West lakes Activity Centre at Stithians Lake.

Watersports student Rebecca Hosking, 18, previously from Mullion school, said they “wanted to share our passion for sailing, windsurfing and stand up paddleboarding with our fellow students”.

Watersports student Tom Tripconey, 18, previously from Helston School, is departing for Corsica to start his job with Mark Warner this week.

“It’s probably the last time I will see some of the people here today and a while before I see others, so it’s fantastic to spend my last day as a student sharing the sports I love with the friends I’ve made over the last two years,” he commented.

Marine Biology student Natasha Lamb has never been sailing before.

“The watersports students were really good instructors and made me feel comfortable when I didn’t have a clue what I was doing and I would definitely try watersports again,” she said.

Marine Engineering student Michael Stevens, 16, previously from Richard Lander School, also had an enjoyable day.

“I’ve had so much fun, it’s great to have a day with everyone. It was also really interesting to see where the watersports students do their training each week,” he added.
