More than 160 primary school pupils turned out at Duchy College Stoke Climsland to compete in the first race of this year’s Duchy College Sport Cross-Country League.
Pupils from Years Three, Four, Five and Six took part in one and two mile courses representing Altarnun, Coads Green, St Joseph’s, South Petherwin, Stoke Climsland, Trekenner, Darite and Tregadillett. The runners were collecting points for individual medals as well as the overall School Cross Country League trophy which is sponsored by Launceston Sports.
Year Three pupil from Tregadillet Primary School, Charlotte Harris, said the race was “great fun and I really enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next race”.
Team Lead for Sports at Duchy College, Neil Harris, said the cross country league “is an amazing opportunity for local primary school students to come together and race competitively.”
“I was impressed with the children’s motivation to compete in quite challenging conditions,” Neil continued.
“Our Level 3 Sport students, along with Military and Protective Services Academy students at Duchy also gained some valuable hands on experience in setting up and helping to run this event.”
